Jenny Murphy is a second-generation florist and a passionate advocate for the floral industry in Ireland. Growing up within the walls of Flowers by Moira—the Dunshaughlin-based business established by her mother in 1983—Jenny’s education in floristry began at the workbench, helping out during busy holidays and learning the heart of the family trade from a young age.
After completing her formal studies and spending time traveling abroad, Jenny returned to the family business over 20 years ago. It was here that her passion truly took root, leading her to explore the high-pressure, highly creative world of competitive floristry. Her competitive spirit and eye for design have earned her some of the industry’s most prestigious accolades, including:
• Gold Medal & Best in Show: BFA Florist of the Year at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
• Bronze Award: Representing Ireland at the Singapore Garden Festival.
• Runner-up: Interflora Florist of the Year.
For Jenny, competitions served as a vital creative outlet, pushing the boundaries of what is possible with botanical design. Today, she brings that same drive and expertise to her role on the Board of the Institute of Flowers, having joined in July 2025.
Jenny is deeply committed to giving back to the community that shaped her career. She believes the Institute plays a crucial role in supporting retail florists across Ireland by providing pathways to education, fostering a positive networking environment, and breaking the isolation that can sometimes come with running an independent business.
Through collaboration and shared experience, Jenny is dedicated to helping the next generation of Irish florists flourish, ensuring the industry remains vibrant, skilled, and connected for years to come.
