A Celebration of Orchids at Bloom 2025: Join Me for a Live Floral Demonstration

I'm delighted to announce that I will be presenting a live floral demonstration at Bloom 2025 on Thursday, 29th May at 1:15 PM in the Botanical Hub at Bloom. As a Master Florist based in Waterford and Kilkenny, it’s always a joy to share my passion for floral design—and this year, I’ll be focusing on one of nature’s most elegant and intriguing blooms: the Orchid.

This demonstration is part of my role representing the Institute of Flowers (IOF), where I work alongside talented florists to promote the artistry and professionalism of floristry across Ireland.

For this special demonstration, I’ll be working with a variety of orchids, each with its own charm and design potential. From the accessible and widely loved Phalaenopsis orchid—a staple in many Irish homes and flower shops—to the more exotic Cymbidium and Vanda orchids, I’ll show how these blooms can be used in everything from elegant wrist corsages to dramatic, statement floral installations.

I’ll also share some behind-the-scenes stories from my work and connections in the international floral world, including experiences collaborating with celebrity florists who’ve designed for The Kardashians and Oprah—and how these influences inspire my own orchid designs.

What’s really exciting for me is looking at orchids not just as beautiful stems, but as plants with a story. During the demo, I’ll also explore how orchids grow in nature, and how we can create floral designs that honour the environments they come from—mixing them with flowers and plants that share the same origins.

You’ll also find me throughout Bloom at the IOF (Institute of Flowers) stand, where I’ll be connecting with fellow florists, meeting flower enthusiasts, and chatting with anyone curious about the world of floristry. Whether you’re already working with flowers or just dreaming about a creative career, I’d love to talk to you about what it takes to become a professional florist in Ireland, and the amazing career paths and opportunities out there in our industry.

There’ll be lots happening at the IOF stand all weekend long—with florists from across the countrystudents showcasing their talents, and breathtaking floral displays coming together in real time.

If you’re coming to Bloom this year, pop by and say hello! Let’s talk orchids, creativity, and careers in flowers.

See you there! 🌸
